Not So Near and Yet Not So Far Away

This congregation generously contributes to a wide-range of programs to help meet worldwide human needs. Many of these are sponsored by our denomination, PCUSA. Those receiving our help are as near as Camp Gilmont in East Texas and as far away as any point on earth that needs assistance due to hunger, grinding poverty, or disaster.

 Rusk State Hospital

Our congregation does a little different take on an “Angel Tree.”  Members of our congregation help provide the magic of the Christmas season to residents of the Rusk State Hospital, a facility for the mentally ill. Our Outreach group works with the staff and director of the facility to provide evidence of God’s love to those that are often forgotten. We have been part of their Christmas for many years and will continue as long as the need exists.

 Gilmont Camp and Conference Center

We provide financial support for this scenic East Texas facility that offers a variety of Christian-based learning opportunities including but not limited to:  summer camps for young people; day camps for 50+ participants; annual training for church elders and leaders; and, meeting space facilities for church retreats.

Presbyterian Disaster Assistance

FPC Henderson is honored to have members of our congregation participate as part of the Presbyterian Disaster Assistance (PDA) Team.  These dedicated, passionate and compassionate team members respond to natural disasters (floods, hurricanes, tornados, earth quakes) and to man-made disasters with devastating impacts (fire, immigration relief assistance).  Their time, effort, energy and expenses are all volunteer.  Our congregation stands proudly with this group and the work they do.  We assist financially, with manpower, with supplies and with the power of powerful prayer.  Members of this statewide/nationwide/worldwide team are our friends, neighbors and brothers and sisters in God’s love.

Kroger Community Rewards Program Sign-Up

FPC Henderson participates in the Kroger Cares Program.  If you participate, we would really appreciate your designating First Presbyterian Church Henderson as the entity to receive the benefit of your participation.

AUGUST is the month for re-enrolling in the KROGER COMMUNITY REWARDS PROGRAM. To enroll or re-enroll, go to the google KrogerCommunityReward.com.  Being in this program and shopping at Kroger allows our church to receive money quarterly from the combined purchases at Kroger.   The money received through this program goes to help us fund some of our local mission projects.
